Footage showing the moment Super Eagles stars visited Bola Tinubu has resurfaced online after Taribo West decried how the late Peter Rufai was treated.

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Rufai passed away on July 3 and was buried in Lagos on August 22, in the presence of family members, ex-teammates and loved ones.

Shortly after 'Dodomayana' was laid to rest, Taribo called out the Nigeria Football Federation and the Lagos State government for failing to support the funeral.

Taribo West said via Business Day:

"It’s disheartening that you have Lagos State, you have the Nigerian Football Association. They drop the bulk on the family.
"Could you imagine that the family would be crying to solicit within our groups, just to ask for money? It is madness.
"With this kind of example, I will never advise even my son to put his feet for this country.
“My mother passed on. I never shed tears. My father passed on in my hands. I never shed tears. When Rufai passed on, I had goose pimples on my body."

Meanwhile, ex-international Waidi Akanni countered West’s claims, stating that the Lagos State Government supported the family with N15 million.

Akanni added that there were contributions from the Lagos State Football Association, the Lagos State Sports Commission, and individuals as well.

Taribo's comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some pointing out the rapport between Nigerian legends and politicians.

The former Inter Milan star was in the company of his ex-internationals Jay Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, Victor Ikpeba and Peter Rufai, who is now late.

Taribo prayed for the Bola Tinubu movement to be established. He said in the clip:

"You'll accompany him, with leaders that have heart for this nation that left their blood in line to see how Nigeria can be restored back its days of that glory.
"We hide him (Tinubu) under your crown. We speak to the four corners of this nation, I command them to be arrested. Let Bola Tinubu movement be established."
