He won the Norwegian title, Eliteseren, twice in 2020 and 2021 before moving to the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with Royal Union Saint-Gilloise in 2022.
He spent a season at the Belgian club before moving to Bayer Leverkusen, where he helped the club win the German Bundesliga title in his first season.
He was close to joining Al-Nassr in January, but the Saudi Pro League side opted to sign Colombian forward Jhon Duran instead.
Boniface shares living condition in Norway
The Super Eagles forward described the harsh weather condition he endured during his three years in Norway, which was vastly different from that in Africa.
“I played in Norway, one of the coldest countries in the world. I played for Bodø/Glimt — the city is too small,” Boniface said on The Culture League Podcast.
“From the airport to the stadium is like a three-minute drive, from our stadium to my house is a two-minute walk, and it’s surrounded by sea. It was freezing.
“Scandinavians are used to the cold. Before the warm-up of the game, this boot they use for snow was what we used to sit on the bench. It was so cold we had to use body oil.”

Boniface recalls moment with Mourinho
Boniface, who grew up in Africa, thought he had it worse with the Norwegian weather, but was shocked to see Jose Mourinho, who has lived all his life in Europe, react similarly.
The Special One, ahead of Bodo Glimt vs AS Roma, shared a post on his Instagram page, lamenting the state of their training facilities before the match.
"Mourinho came to the pitch, walked inside, took his phone, recorded everything and posted: ‘This is the situation, we’re about to play, very cold.’,” Boniface added.
"He posted it. I commented on that same post because I didn't know I'd be at this level today. I said to him, 'You never see anything.”
