Former Nigerian international Brown Ideye has delivered brutal remarks following the Super Eagles Team B's exit from the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The players from the Nigeria Professional Football League were humiliated by Sudan in their second match of the competition, losing 4-0.
Ikorodu City’s Leonard Ngenge scored an own goal, a penalty was conceded, and two quick strikes by Abdel Raouf exposed Nigeria’s fragility.

Nigeria needed a win in the encounter as they had earlier lost their opening match of the tournament 1-0 to Senegal, per Supersport.
The team, led by Eric Chelle, failed to create meaningful chances, and many criticised the manager's tactics and lack of creativity.
Ideye, who recently parted ways with NPFL club Enyimba, disclosed that the boys were not good enough. He wrote on X:
"We’re not good enough, that’s the bitter truth… we don’t have what it takes to compete on the bigger stage."
Recall that Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede and Heartland manager Fidelis Ilechukwu were scheduled to lead the CHAN team after guiding Nigeria through qualifiers.
The NFF’s last-minute switch to Chelle, who is in charge of the senior national team, eventually backfired.
Nigeria will play for pride during their last group game against Congo on Tuesday night, August 18.
Responding to Ideye's tweet, @Adforyourbiznes said:
"This is where the NFF and league administrators should come in. There are few academies in Nigeria teaching footballers how to play well and coaches are not well trained hence the footballing sector is poor.
"Gradually, they are outsourcing footballers recruitment to the diaspora."
@Ikechukw001 added:
"CHAN Eagles aren’t losing for lack of talent they’re losing because politics picked the team, not passion.
"Favouritism is killing Nigerian football. Remostars academy will reach semi finals of this game allowed."
@blazingintro posited:
"Our best players are either chasing degrees in a university or abroad looking for a better future for their families. And you can't blame them.
"Back in the days when the league was well followed our best players played for the best teams in Europe."
