Taye Taiwo: Former Nigerian Star Speaks After Meeting Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traore

Former Nigerian international Taye Taiwo was excited to meet with President Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso as the country celebrates its 65th Independence Anniversary.
Several activities were lined up ahead of the D-Day, including a novelty match at the revamped August 4th Stadium, following a $300 million project.
A day earlier, past and present African footballers gathered at the venue where they showcased sensational skills while entertaining the crowd.

The event brought together superstars like Jay Jay Okocha, Taye Taiwo, Samuel Eto’o, Rigobert Song, Alex Song, Emmanuel Adebayor and a host of others, per Africa Soccer.
President Traore, a military leader known for his hands-on approach, not only officiated the ceremony but also played in the charity match between the football legends and Burkina Faso’s Defence and Security Forces.
Former stars of Burkinabe football were also in attendance, with Adama Guira, Alain Traore, and Charles Kabore representing the host team
The newly renovated stadium is expected to serve as a key venue for Burkina Faso’s upcoming international matches.
Ex-Super Eagles left-back Taiwo was among the stars who graced the rain-soaked pitch, adding flair to the event. He took to his Instagram handle to share a photo of himself and the country's leader.
He added the caption:
"It was great pleasure and honour to meet his excellency president Ibrahim Traore. I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) continues to guide, protect and elevate him in all his endeavours.
"May his wisdom, humility and leadership continue to shine as a source of inspiration to many.
"May Almighty Allah grant him more strength, sound health and divine wisdom. May he raise him to greater height - politically, spiritually, personally and make him a means of positive transformation for his people and the entire nation."
Fans flooded the comments, praising the humility of both the footballer and the president.
