A Turkish football commentator has heaped praise on Galatasaray for their efforts to sign Victor Osimhen permanently, describing him as the right signing.

Osimhen spent last season on loan at Rams Park, scoring 37 goals and providing eight assists in 41 games, which convinced the club to sign him permanently.

He joined Galatasaray in a club-record deal for €75 million after the club beat competition from Al-Hilal following weeks of negotiations with Napoli.

According to Galatasaray’s official statement, the Nigerian forward will earn €21 million per annum after turning down €45 million from Al-Hilal.

He signed a four-year contract and will cost Galatasaray a massive €159 million, excluding taxes, if he fulfils the entire length of the contract.

Turkish pundit backs Osimhen to succeed

The deal is the biggest financial deal in Turkish football, and it has raised questions on how Galatasaray will fund it, with many calling it unnecessary.

Turkish football commentator Serder Kelleci has backed the Super Eagles star to succeed, applauding Galatasaray for doing everything right with the deal.

"Galatasaray made the right move with the Osimhen transfer,” he told TRT Spor as quoted by GS Gazete.
“If you had signed another player instead of Osimhen, you would have paid €35-40 million for him and perhaps not gotten the most out of him. But you already knew what kind of player you were getting from last year."

Kelleci went further to set a realistic goal target for Osimhen, adding that he is not only worth a lot, but he is a lot.

Why Victor Osimhen chose Galatasaray

Journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu named the clubs that approached Osimhen and how much each team offered, which he rejected and accepted Galatasaray.

“He rejected big money. He chose Galatasaray for happiness,” he said.

Sabuncuoglu confirmed that Manchester United and Arsenal were the English clubs that made a concrete offer to him this summer, as well as Juventus in Italy.

He added that Al-Hilal were willing to go as high as €60 million salary and debunked the claims that Spanish champions Barcelona contacted the Nigerian.

World champions, Chelsea, who were also close to signing him last summer, did not enter the race this summer and focused on other targets.

Galatasaray clarified Osimhen’s transfer
