Nigerians have expressed their feelings after telecommunication giant MTN donated a huge sum of money to the victorious Super Falcons in Lagos.

Super Falcons have been the subject of celebration from the government and brands after winning the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Falcons defeated hosts, the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco, 3-2 in the final, coming from two goals down thanks to goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi and Jennifer Echegini.

The team arrived in Nigeria on Sunday and was hosted to a banquet at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

As noted by Vanguard, the President conferred national honour, OON, on the players and gifted them the naira equivalent of $100,00, plus a three-bedroom flat.

MTN gifts Super Falcons ₦150m

Telco company MTN have joined the list of brands making donations to the Super Falcons stars after the team won their 10th Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

The players and technical crew members were hosted to a breakfast in Lagos on Thursday morning, during which the brand donated ₦150 million to the team.

Nigerians react to MTN’s donation

Nigerians have expressed their thoughts about the donations from one of the biggest telecommunications companies in the country.

Rasheedat Ajibade applauds MTN

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who was named the tournament’s best player, as noted by CAF Online, applauded the kind gesture by MTN on behalf of her teammates.

“Special thanks to MTN and every Nigerian who c us when we came to Lagos. We appreciate you all,” she said.
"We feel valued, we feel honoured, we feel respected. This will inspire us to do better and keep inspiring the next generation. We are happy, and feel very grateful; we feel privileged to bring joy to the faces of Nigerians.”
