According to Marca and reported by NYT, he has received six stitches but is not in a critical condition. However, he is not expected to join his teammates in training soon.

A few fans sent their well-wishes to him, while some rather unfortunately, found fun in a dire situation, because of the area affected.

Carles Perez’s career path

Perez joined the Greek club from Spanish side Celta Vigo on loan this summer to revive his career after a poor loan spell at Getafe last season.

The 27-year-old’s first appearance for Thessaliniki came in a Conference League qualifier against Araz-Nakhchivan where he played the whole game.

According to The Athletic, Perez has had a pretty nomadic career. He played for four clubs during his academy days, including Barcelona’s La Masia.

He made his first team debut on May 19, 2019, during the 2-2 draw against Eibar and made 10 more La Liga appearances. His only UEFA Champions League goal came against Inter Milan before leaving the club in 2020.

He joined Italian club AS Roma on an initial loan with an obligation to buy for €11 million. It was exercised, and he spent three seasons at the Italian capital.

Perez left Rome in the summer of 2023 to return to Spain with Celta Vigo on a permanent deal after spending the previous season on loan at the club.

His path of loan moves continued as he was shipped to Getafe in the 2024/25 season, and after an underwhelming time during which he scored three goals, he was loaned again to Aris Thessaloniki.

"I like the pressure. Coming to ARIS is a big challenge in my career, and I can't wait to live this experience,” he said after joining the club.

He played 90 minutes on his debut in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier against Arak-Nakhchivan.
