Super Falcons star Ashleigh Plumptre was visibly excited after meeting her football idol and Nigerian legend Jay-Jay Okocha.
The impressive defender, who was part of the team that won the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco, was spotted with the mercurial midfielder, as she described it as a dream come true.
Upon their arrival in the country, the Nigerian women's national football team was received by President Bola Tinubu, who hosted them to a lavish reception.

Each player in the team was given $100,000, a three-bedroom flat and a national honour, Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), per State House.
The Super Falcons also flew to Lagos, where they are billed to meet with the state governor and other football stakeholders.
Plumptre shared a photo of the moment she met Jay Jay on her Instagram handle as she wrote:
"Little Ash could never imagine it."
She also posted a picture capturing her dad with the master dribbler. She added:
"First time with dad in Nigeria and he got to meet his hero too."
Okocha is arguably one of Nigeria's greatest footballers of all time, as he is renowned for his dazzling skills and iconic performances.
For WAFCON winner Plumptre, it was not only a chance to meet her hero but also to share the moment with her family right in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the star was captured in a photo alongside her father and a woman, whom she calls her 'social media mom'.

There were speculations about the defender's family during the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Stadium cameras captured Plumptre’s dad, Tim Rick Plumptre, alongside an emotional white woman in the stands with fans claiming she was her mother.
She had clarified that the said woman was not her biological mother but a passionate fan she had grown close to.
The Nigerian international disclosed that she first met the woman and her two daughters at the 2022 WAFCON, where she gifted one of the daughters her jersey.

She noted that seeing them in the stands during the 2024 WAFCON final brought back memories of her own family, especially her sister Bayleigh, despite no biological connection.
National honour excites Asisat Oshoala
Legit.ng earlier reported that Asisat Oshoala has led the Super Falcons stars in reacting to the gifts and national honour conferred on the team by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Aside from gifting each of the players the sum of $100,00, the president also gave the players and technical team the national honours as they were confirmed with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) award for their achievement.
