“Gift Galore”: Super Eagles Stars Gift ₦24 Million to Super Falcons After WAFCON Triumph
- Super Eagles players have joined the growing list of personalities who have been gifted the Super Falcons' cash reward following their 10th WAFCON title
- Nigeria's President, Bola Tinubu, announced a cash reward of ₦152 million to each of the national senior women's players
- Nigeria beat hosts Morocco 3-2 to win the 13th Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Rabat on July 26, 2025
President Bola Tinubu has rewarded each player of the Super Falcons team with the sum of ₦152 million naira ($10,000) each on Monday, July 28.
The President also announced the ₦76 million to each of the technical crew/backroom staff of the national women's senior team.

He also conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger to the players and coaches for earning Nigeria's 10th WAFCON title.
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on behalf of the Nigeria Governors Forum, further added ₦10 million to each player’s reward package, bringing the total cash benefit to over ₦150 million, Nation Sports reports.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has pledged that a substantial portion of the prize money for winning the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations will be distributed to the players, per CAF.

Super Eagles players motivate Super Falcons
Six Super Eagles players have donated ₦24 million to the members of the Super Falcons squad.
According to Punch, the gesture was spearheaded by Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong after Nigeria's historic 10th WAFCON title.
Five of the other contributors include 2024 CAF Player of the Year Ademola Lookman, Ola Aina, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun, and Joe Aribo.
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau, confirmed the donation during a statement. He said:
"I want to confirm that a financial gesture of ₦1 million to each of the 24 players by six players of the Super Eagles: captain William Ekong, Olaoluwa Aina, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun and Joseph Ayodele-Aribo."
Meanwhile, an estate development company donated plots of land to Super Falcons player Chiamaka Nnadozie and Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman.

Man criticises Tinubu
Legit.ng earlier reported that a Nigerian man, Lola Okunrin, criticised President Tinubu for his $100,000 cash prize reward to members of the Super Falcons squad after their reception in Abuja.

He noted that the cash reward was too much for each player, as there are other sectors in the country that money could have been channelled to.
