He helped Galatasaray win the Turkish Super League and Cup double, scoring an impressive 37 goals and eight assists, and this pushed the club to pursue a permanent move.

They faced competition from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, which offered him a mega salary of €45 million per annum, which the striker rejected.

The Turkish champions were undeterred and proposed an offer of €16 million to the Super Eagles star, which he accepted after weeks of deliberation.

Galatasaray entered negotiations with Napoli, and it took nearly three weeks before the two clubs reached full agreement and signed all documents.

Napoli rejected four bids, including €55mil, €60mil and even €75mil because of the payment structure, which Aurelio De Laurentiis did not find favourable.

The clubs eventually found an agreement at €75mil with €40mil paid upfront and €35mil in instalments. The deal also includes €5mil in bonuses and a 10% sell-on clause.

According to reports in Italy, De Laurentiis delayed signing the paperwork until he confirms the upfront fee has been paid, and after a few days, all documents have been signed.
