Victor Osimhen is close to completing a permanent move to Galatasaray, and a Turkish pundit has raised a key concern about the striker ahead of the move.

As noted by Transfermarkt, he scored 37 goals in all competitions, including 26 league goals to win the Golden Boot and the league's best player award last season.

The Lions reached an agreement on personal terms with Osimhen, and after weeks of pondering over the deal, he agreed to join the club permanently.

Victor Osimhen finally reacts after sealing Galatasaray move despite Napoli's resistance

It has been nearly three weeks now, and the deal is yet to be completed on a club-to-club basis, despite reports that both parties have an agreement in principle.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is yet to sanction the deal as he is reportedly waiting for a bank guarantee and receiving the first €40 million instalment.

Pundit raises concerns about Osimhen

Turkish football commentator Fatih Dogan has warned Galatasaray to insure star player Victor Osimhen after agreeing a deal worth up to €80 million.

“It’s a major investment and also a serious risk. Insuring the player is essential, with transfers like this, precautions must be taken against possible injuries. Some American companies can provide this kind of insurance for around 1–2 million euros,” he told TRT Spor.

Dogan applauds Osimhen’s commitment to Galatasaray since joining on loan, but warned that his lack of pre-season could prove to be a setback next season.

“Osimhen has a strong sense of loyalty to his club, which could be a great source of motivation, but it's clear that he hasn’t prepared well for the season,” he added.
“He’s not training with the team, which increases the risk of injury.”

He cited an example of German striker Mario Gomez, who joined Besiktas from Fiorentina and was given a six-week conditioning period to settle into the team.

He added that Icardi, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury last November, could be in the same situation as he works his way to full fitness, and this could give Okan Buruk a headache at the start of the season.
