Afrobeats star Burna Boy thrilled England manager Sarina Wiegman during the Three Lionesses’ Women's Euro 2025 trophy parade.

England beat Spain to win their second consecutive UEFA Women's Euro in Switzerland to avenge their 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup loss.

Burna Boy surprises Sarina Wiegman

According to BBC Sports, the English FA hosted a trophy parade which ended at the doorstep of Buckingham Palace for the victorious Lionesses.

Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy, who is Wiegman’s favourite artiste, was invited to perform, and she caught the Dutch tactician by surprise.

Wiegman joined Burna Boy to perform his global hit single 'For My Hand', which featured English artiste Ed Sheeran, to the delight of the players and fans.

According to Business Day, the players had spoken about their manager’s love for Nigerian music, particularly Burna Boy, before the final.

His performance generated mixed reactions among Nigerian fans, many of whom claimed he did not celebrate the Super Falcons, who conquered Africa at the Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

Lionesses captain Leah Williamson was full of praise for her manager, who has won three Women's Euro titles with the Netherlands and England.

“I thought two was good, but she's doing well with three,” Williamson said about Wiegman's achievement of three European Championships.
“She's just an amazing woman. She stands by us on and off the pitch. She supports us in whichever way we need, and then she's ruthless, and she makes a decision, which is a sign of a good coach.
“I never questioned her, whatever she tells me to do. If she tells me to do something, or tells me to jump, I say 'how high'. That's a sign of somebody well-respected.”

Football and music journalist JJ Opeisa hit back at those attacking Burna Boy for performing for the Three Lionesses and not the Super Falcons.

“Nigerians need to realise that citizenship is not the currency to pay for talents. Burna Boy performed in England on a paid invitation, and he owes nothing to Nigeria to be there in Abuja for the Super Falcons,” he told Legit.ng.

Noni Madueke parties with Burna Boy

Legit.ng previously reported that Noni Madueke partied with Burna Boy hours after he left Chelsea's US camp before the FIFA Club World Cup final.

The England international left New Jersey to complete his move to Arsenal and was spotted partying with the Afrobeats star at a concert in London.
