WAFCON Prize Money: How Much Each Super Falcons Star Earned After President Tinubu’s $100,000 Gift

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has pledged that a substantial portion of the prize money for winning the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations will be distributed to the players.

Nigeria defeated host nation Morocco in the final at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat to win their record-extending 10th WAFCON title.

The Atlas Lionesses raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half through Ghizlaine Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy. Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi and Jennifer Echegini scored to turn it around for Nigeria.

WAFCON 2025 prize money

According to CAF, the prize money for the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations was $3,450,000, a 45% increase from the previous edition’s remuneration.

Champions Nigeria received $1,000,000 (₦1,500,000,000), while runners-up Morocco received $500,000, and the least amount went to the teams that finished fourth in the group ($125,000).

According to journalist Osasu Obayiuwana via Daily Post, the Nigeria Football Federation promised that 30% of the prize will go to the players to motivate them before the final.

The reward for the team of 24 is $300,000 (₦450,000,000), which is $12,500 (₦18,750,000) per player from the prize money as promised by NFF.

Total prize money for each Super Falcons star

According to a statement by the State House, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu promised each player the Naira equivalent of $100,000 for each player.

Also, the Nigeria Governors' Forum, via a statement through their official X page, announced a donation of ₦10 million each to the triumphant Falcons.

Meanwhile, Journalist Obayiuwana added in another report that the player's daily camp allowance was $100, which amounted to $3,500 (₦5.25 million) per player for the tournament.

This brings the total prize money for each player to ($116,000+₦10,000,000), which totals 174 million Nigerian Naira for each player.

In addition to these monetary compensations is a three-bedroom flat each for the players and the technical team in the Renewed Hope Housing Estate.

The players and technical crew were also awarded the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) for their achievement in brilliantly winning the tournament.

All these awards and remunerations were announced at a banquet held in honour of the players at the Transcorp Hilton hotel in Abuja.

Oshoala reacts after cash gift and national honour

Legit.ng reported that Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala reacted after receiving cash gifts and national honour from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The president hosted the victorious Super Falcons to a dinner in Abuja to celebrate their victory at the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
