Sacking Tinubu: How Opposition Coalition Can Be Broken, Lamido

Alhaji Sule Lamido, the former governor of Jigawa and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has disclosed that if the opposition coalition gets its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, they would be broken by President Bola Tinubu.
The former governor made this known while speaking about the politics ahead of the next election cycle in 2027.

Coalition adopts ADC as its political platform
Recall that the coalition movement has been positioning itself as the potential opposition to sack President Tinubu in the 2027 election. The movement, which was first started by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has gained momentum in the country and recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform.
However, Lamido, in an interview with Daily Trust, said the movement "is largely a coalition of individuals", which cannot be compared to the coalition of 2014 that brought the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to power in 2015.
The former governor explained that the 2014 coalition was a coming together of strong political institutions, citing the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) under Tinubu, ex-President Muhammadu Buhari's Congress of Progressive Change (CPC), adding that they were cohesive, organised and organic institutions.
He recalled that the Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives and some PDP governors were part of the alliance, as well as the governors of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), who also joined with their structure.
Why the 2014 coalition is different
Thus, Lamido noted that the 2014 coalition was full of strong political organs that wanted the PDP out of power at all costs. He alleged that the 2014 coalition used intimidation, blackmail and coercion to take over power.
The PDP chieftain maintained that former President Goodluck Jonathan was personally attacked, while the leaders of the 2014 coalition played on Nigerians' emotions, using the Boko Haram menace and corruption against him.
He questioned if things have changed better for the country since power was wrestled from the PDP and Jonathan in 2015. He maintained that the APC has failed the country and its people, and people should be talking about stability and economic growth.
His statement reads in part:
"Unfortunately, today’s coalition seems reactionary. And many of those driving it are the same people who spearheaded the 2014 coalition – El-Rufai, Amaechi and others. They are now rallying against their own failures."

Why 36 governors may support Tinubu
Legit.ng earlier reported that Kaduna state governor Uba Sani posited that it would be difficult for any Nigerian governor not to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Governor Sani explained that no Nigerian president had ever supported the states and local governments as Tinubu has done.
The Kaduna governor made the comment amid alignment and realignment from the ruling APC and other opposition parties in the country.
