As reported by The Punch, the letter cited by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, August 21, read:
“I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign as a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), effective immediately.
“This decision has not been taken lightly but I feel compelled to do so due to the lingering internal crisis that has plagued our party for some time.
“As you are aware, these internal conflicts have led to serious division and litigations within the party.
“I appreciate the opportunities given to me while been a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and grateful for the experiences and relationship built.

Wadada declares support for Tinubu
As reported by Leadership, the development comes amid Wadada’s recent comments in support of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking after a visit to the State House, the senator dismissed claims that the ADC could produce a leader capable of surpassing Tinubu’s achievements.
Wadada also hinted at a possible return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), recalling that he had previously served as a national officer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before joining the APC and later the SDP.
He stressed that his departure from the SDP was not due to grievances with the party but “the dynamism of life.”

SDP bans El-Rufai ahead of 2027 election
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that members of the national working committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) expelled Mallam El-Rufai from the party.
SDP, one of Nigeria's prominent opposition political parties, said El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna state, is ineligible to associate with the party in any capacity for the next 30 years.
The party also accused El-Rufai of falsely parading himself as a party member, manipulating internal processes, and attempting to destabilise the party through unconstitutional actions.
