2027: Popular Activist Unveils New Platform to Support ADC coalition, Details Emerge

FCT, Abuja - A prominent human rights and anti-corruption activist, Comrade Ibrahim Garba Wala, commonly referred to as IG Wala, has launched an initiative called The Handshake Movement, mobilising nationwide support for the African Democratic Congress Coalition.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to Legit.ng on Thursday, August 21, signed by Wala.
According to the statement, Wala called on Nigerians of all ages to come together and collaborate with the new movement to chart a fresh course for Nigeria's future.
Wala stated that the path to an improved Nigeria isn't about conflict among people, but rather about constructing bridges that foster understanding.
The statement reads, "From this day forward, I commit to being an architect of a new political era, one that is not defined by single leaders but by strong institutions and platforms that are truly owned by the people.
"I will engage with empathy, correct with respect, and unite with purpose. I will no longer attack those who align with leaders, but instead seek to correct their wrongs in a civilised manner, because they are acting on wrong assumptions."
Wala call Nigerians to take responsibility in politics
He urged Nigerians to redirect their attention from past issues to what they can accomplish together, stating that the nation's future hinges on creating a new trajectory founded on hope, trust, and collective accountability.
"Let us shift our focus from what was wrong to what we can do together. The future of our nation depends on us to forge a new path built on hope, trust, and shared responsibility. Let's get to work.
"I hereby call on you to join the handshake, and urge you to pass the handshake across, under a new platform called, The Handshake Movement - Hand-In-Hand for Nigeria, Hand-In-Hand for ADC." Wala expressed

Legit.ng previously reported that Aisha Yesufu, a prominent socio-political activist, has called on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition to prioritise the meaningful inclusion of youths and women in key decision-making positions.
Yesufu, a prominent Labour Party supporter and advocate for Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential bid, shared her thoughts in a post on social media on Wednesday, July 2.
She made the statement after the ADC was unveiled as the new platform for the 2027 opposition coalition to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, the former Senate President and ex-governor of Osun State, have reportedly been appointed as the interim chairman and secretary of the ADC. The coalition movement is currently positioning itself against the chances of President Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.
