The immediate former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress and immediate past governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, returned to Nigeria on Wednesday, August 20, from the United Kingdom after a long medical trip.

Ganduje was reported to have travelled to the United Kingdom for medical treatment shortly after his resignation as APC National Chairman
Ganduje's former Chief of Staff, Muhammed Garba, confirmed his arrival in Nigeria on Wednesday, August 20, stating that the former APC chairman spent about a month in London, as reported by The Punch
“Yes, he is back in Nigeria today. He is full of life and has returned to his residence,” Garba stated.
He further disclosed that the APC chieftain departed Nigeria for London five days after stepping down as the party chairman to undergo medical care.
Tinubu appoints Ganduje as FAAN chairman
Ganduje, who became APC National Chairman in August 2023, had reportedly resigned on June 27, 2024, citing his medical condition as the reason for his controversial resignation.
He was subsequently appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria on July 9, while former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Netanwe Yilwatda, was appointed to replace him as the party's National Chairman.

Key figures absent as APC members pledge loyalty to Ganduje
Legit.ng previously reported that major stakeholders in the Kano chapter of the APC have gathered and affirmed their loyalty to the immediate past national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje. They also pledged to mobilise efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party made the affirmation following a high-level meeting, which was held at the residence of the former national chairman in Kano on Tuesday, August 5. There was a large turnout of APC leaders, elected officials, former political appointees and grassroots executives in the state.
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Minister of State for Housing Yusuf Abdullahi Ata were absent. Barau reportedly travelled abroad following the death of his mother-in-law in London, while the reason for Ata's absence was unclear.
APC loses key members to NNPP in Ganduje's constituency
Legit.ng also reported that a group of prominent APC members in Dawakin Tofa, the home constituency of former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, have switched allegiance to the New Nigeria Peoples Party.
Kano state governor Abba Yusuf received the new members during a ceremony at the Government House on Friday, August 8. His spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, confirmed the development in a statement.
Addressing the gathering, Yusuf described the mass defection from Ganduje's APC as a sign of approval for the policies his administration has implemented in the past two years.
