FCT, Abuja - The coordinator of the Citizens Coalition, Kelly Agaba, has reacted to the outcome of the by-elections in Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Anambra, Ogun, Edo, Adamawa, Zamfara, Oyo and other states on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) performed poorly across the 16 constituencies in 13 states where the re-run elections took place.

Legit.ng reports that the by-elections held in two senatorial districts in Anambra and Edo states, five federal constituencies in Edo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Ogun, and Oyo states, and nine state constituencies in Adamawa, Anambra, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Niger, Taraba, and Zamfara.
Agaba said the re-run election was more of a mock election for the coalition which recently took over the structure and the ADC platform.
The political analyst stated this during an exclusive interview with Legit.ng on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
"Honestly, I think the bye-election or rerun election was more of a mock election. For those criticizing the ADC, I think they need to understand that the party has only been with the coalition for about a month. If we look at history, we can see that a similar move was made in 2013 when the APC was formed. They participated in the Anambra gubernatorial election that year and came third.”
Agaba said the ruling APC later became stronger and bigger after the merger arrangement.
He said the fous of the ADC leadership is on the 2027 general elections and not the by-election.
The crusader for social justice and good governance described the by-election results as short-term gain while the ADC focus is on the long gain of 2027.
“The point is; the vision of change wasn't buried there. Similarly, the ADC leadership isn't fixated on this election; their eyes are on the 2027 general election. That's when the party will show its strength and redeem Nigeria from the clutches of the APC.”

Jigawa By-election: Badaru rubbishes claim of losing polling unit
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Defence Minister, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, said those circulating the fake report are mischief makers as he delivered his polling unit to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The minister's media aide, Mati Ali, shared the authentic result, as duly released by INEC and announced by the Returning Officer.
Meanwhile, INEC declared the APC candidate, Mukhtar Rabiu as the winner of the Garki/Babura federal constituency bye-election after defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates and others.
