Odeyemi made this assertion on Tuesday, August 12, during Politics HQ, a programme on News Central TV, stating that Abubakar moved his political allies to the newly formed ADC coalition party.

“ADC, if you want to know, is Atiku Disciples Congress.”
“He moved his people to that place. So if any presidential candidate or hopeful joins ADC today, that will be the end of his dealings with ADC.” He said

The PDP chieftain stressed that Abubakar would have won the 2023 presidential election if he had picked Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, as his running mate.

“If Atiku is so smart to pin down Obi as his vice-presidential candidate, he would have been the president today,” he said.

Odeyemi faulted Atiku Abubakar’s political decisions, stressing that his refusal to comply with the demands of the Nyesom Wike-led G5 governors requesting the removal of Iyorchia Ayu as PDP national chairman was a costly mistake.

Odeyemi cast doubt on Abubakar’s advisers' assessment of the political situation before making key decisions.

Kalu asserted in a statement on Thursday, July 31, that Atiku’s political track record makes him the ideal candidate to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, as reported by The Sun.

He stressed the importance of embracing Atiku's leadership vision to revitalise Nigeria's economy, given his impressive record of driving growth, securing investments, and generating employment opportunities during his time as Vice President.

Key reasons why the coalition may unseat Tinubu

Legit.ng also reported that with the 2027 general elections drawing closer, the political atmosphere in Nigeria is beginning to shift, and conversations about alliances and power blocs are gathering steam.

President Bola Tinubu, who took office in 2023 after a fiercely contested election, now faces growing scrutiny amid worsening economic conditions, internal party unease, and a younger, more politically engaged electorate.

While opposition coalitions in previous electoral cycles have often collapsed under the weight of competing interests and poor coordination, the present political landscape appears markedly different.

A broad-based alliance, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and joined by key opposition voices, is gradually taking shape.
