Recently, opposition leaders, including the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, former governors of Rivers and Kaduna, Rotimi Amaechi and Nasir El-Rufai, have led the coalition movement ahead of the 2027 general election. The opposition leaders adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform.

Ajadi, who was part of the NNPP delegates that visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently, noted that the influence of the elder statesman cannot be undermined in the desired stable and prosperous Nigeria.

He said:

"Yes, I was part of the delegation that visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta. The visit was a courtesy call and a moment of engagement on national development, democratic consolidation, and youth inclusion in governance.
"Baba Obasanjo remains a statesman whose experience and perspectives are invaluable to Nigeria’s progress. We discussed critical issues affecting the country—especially the importance of unity among progressives and the need for a generational shift that prioritises capacity, integrity, and patriotism in leadership."

Speaking on the current political alignment and realignment in current Nigerian politics, the NNPP chieftain did not rule out the chances of the party making an alignment and gave conditions for that to happen.

He said:

"At this point, there is no formal arrangement for the NNPP to collapse its structure into any coalition. However, as a progressive and youth-driven party, we are always open to alliances that align with our vision for a better Nigeria—one built on justice, equity, competence, and people-first governance.

"Whatever role former President Obasanjo plays in any political alignment is guided by his well-known desire for a stable and prosperous Nigeria. We respect that. But as for NNPP, we remain focused and independent unless a coalition clearly supports our reformist and inclusive agenda."
