Agbese made this known during an interaction with journalists at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja after returning from the Pan-African Parliament session held in Johannesburg.
He was questioned about changes in Nigeria's political landscape, with a focus on Benue State, as reported by Daily Trust.
The lawmaker responded with a strong endorsement of Akume's leadership, highlighting Akume's legacy of commitment and forward-thinking governance.
“Anywhere Akume wants is where Benue will go in 2027,” the Deputy Spokesman of the 10th House of Representatives stated emphatically.
“He is the compass that guides us through the storms of political uncertainty, especially as we navigate the new movements emerging ahead of 2027. He is called a cat with nine lives for a reason."Agbese explained.
Agbese emphasised Akume's exceptional skill in connecting with people at the grassroots level, grasping the community's needs and making decisions aligned with their aspirations.
Akume's involvement in Alia's success
The lawmaker outlined Akume's involvement in Governor Hyacinth Alia's emergence, noting Akume's substantial impact on the party's success in Benue State.
“No leader is known to the people until he gets power and money and sometimes women,” Agbese remarked.
“No one can blame him for Governor Alia’s behaviour after getting power. Akume’s hand in shaping Benue’s political landscape is evident," he added.
The Deputy Spokesman further lauded Akume’s character, calling him a “man of impeccable character, a leader who leads by example. His humility, despite his towering achievements, is inspiring.
“He is the covenant keeper, the one who fulfils promises when others falter,” Agbese added.
“In a world where political loyalty is often questioned, Sir Akume stands as a paragon of fidelity.
Agbese mentioned that the talks on governance and leadership during the Pan-African Parliament session had parallels with the political situation back in Nigeria.
“The discussions in Johannesburg reinforced the importance of strong, principled leadership," Agbese explained.
