APC Crisis: Tinubu's Minister, DSP, Absent as Kano Leaders Swear Loyalty to Ganduje
- President Bola Tinubu's minister of state for housing, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, was conspicuously absent at APC event held at the residence of former national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje
- Also absent at the event was the Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who was said to be out of the country
- The APC leaders and stalwarts at the event affirmed their loyalty to Ganduje and declared him as the leader of the party in Kano
Major stakeholders in the Kano chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have gathered and affirmed their loyalty to the immediate past national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje. They also pledged to mobilise efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party made the affirmation following an high-level meeting, which was held at the residence of the former national chairman in Kano on Tuesday, August 5. There was a large turn out of APC leaders, elected officials, former political appointees and grassroot executives in the state.

Why Barau was absent at APC meeting
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Minister of State for Housing Yusuf Abdullahi Ata were absent. Barau reportedly traveled abroad following the death of his mother-in-law in London, while the reason for Ata's absence was unclear.
The meeting praised the leadership of Ganduje and commended his contributions to party reform during his tenure. The Kano APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, highlighted initiatives such as e-registration of members, the establishment of the Progressive Institute, and various youth and women empowerment programs. The stakeholders unanimously reaffirmed their loyalty to Ganduje, endorsing him as the undisputed leader of the APC in Kano State.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures, including Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, the 2023 APC gubernatorial and deputy gubernatorial candidates, and Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure. The stakeholders expressed support for President Tinubu's administration, applauding the federal government's developmental efforts in the northern region, particularly in Kano.
APC lawmaker speaks at Ganduje's house
Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, Hon. Abba Kabir Bichi, highlighted key projects initiated by the federal government, including the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressway, Kano-Hadeja Road, and the Kano Railway Bypass, valued at over N250 billion. He also mentioned a $1 billion (N1.5 trillion) light rail project for Kano metropolis, underscoring President Tinubu's commitment to northern development.
The stakeholders expressed confidence in the APC's ability to win upcoming by-elections and maintain Kano as an APC stronghold. Dr. Bunkure described the gathering as a demonstration of party unity and readiness, emphasizing the party's commitment to the 2027 elections.

Kano commissioner resigns
Legit.ng earlier reported that Kano commissioner for transportation, Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Namadi, resigned from the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Namadi’s resignation followed the governor’s receipt of the investigative committee’s report on his alleged role in securing bail for a suspected drug dealer, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.
Governor Yusuf reportedly accepted the resignation of the former commissioner and sent an important warning to political appointees.
