Intrigue as Federal Lawmaker Defends Renovating 80 Cemeteries as Constituency Projects

A federal lawmaker in the House of Representatives, Kabiru Mai Palace, has made an intriguing move as he renovated 80 cemeteries in Zamfara, a northwest state.
Mai Palace, the chairman of the House Committee on Sports, who spoke at the inauguration of the project on Tuesday, August 5, explained that every human will end up in the grave after they die.

Zamfara: Where are locations of renovated cemeteries
According to The Cable, the renovated cemeteries are located in the Gusau/Tsafe federal constituency in Zamfara state.
The lawmaker's statement reads in part:
“Today, we embarked on the renovation of 80 cemeteries in Gusau and Tsafe LGAs as part of my second-year anniversary as a second-term member of the House of Representatives for the Gusau and Tsafe federal constituency.”
He added that his decision followed his observation of the dilapidated conditions of the cemeteries in various communities under his constituency. He explained that "all of us are going to be buried here", adding that it was the reason to give the cemeteries good conditions.
He added that as a Muslim, there is a great value in keeping the cemeteries in good shape. The lawmaker also noted that the renovation of the cemeteries would "prevent various disasters and calamities in society.”
Emir of Gusau is dead
This came after the death of Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau, the Zamfara state capital, who died in Abuja at the age of 71, following a protracted illness. He died on Thursday, July 24. It was learnt that the 16th Emir became his father's successor, who died on March 16, 2015.
The late emir was a former civil servant who rose to the position of Permanent Secretary in the service during the old Sokoto and Zamfara States. Bello served as the Emir of Gusau for ten years and some months.
His death was confirmed by Governor Dauda Lawal's spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, who also commiserated with the people of the state over the loss on the same day.
According to the statement, Governor Lawal described the death of the Emir as a personal loss, adding that he had been a supportive royal father and a competent leader, who dedicated much of himself to making the state better.

National Assembly accused of budget padding
