2027 Election: APC Reacts As El-Rufai Takes Major Move to Oust Tinubu's Govt, “Go Find a Job”

The All Progressives Congress(APC) has tasked former Kaduna state governor and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress(ADC), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, to shelve political campaigns and wait for 2027 before unfolding a media war against the ruling party.

The national secretary of the APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, spoke via an interview with Tribune Online on Sunday, August 3.
El-Rufai moves to sack Tinubu
Legit.ng reported that during his visit to Sokoto, El-Rufai attended two important events meant to sensitise the people and political stakeholders working to achieve the agenda of sacking Tinubu and the APC in the next general election.
During his address at the event, the former governor lambasted the ruling party and called the APC “a failed, clannish, and visionless administration that has plunged Nigeria into deeper socio-economic misery.”

APC reacts to El-Rufai's move against Tinubu
But on Sunday, the APC national secretary urged El-Rufai to find a job to keep himself busy ahead next general elections.
He noted that guidelines for the 2027 general elections would not be unveiled until February 2026 and wondered why El-Rufai should start to dissipate energy on an electoral process that is two years away.
He said:
"Why is he in a hurry? 2027 is far. The guidelines for the 2027 elections won’t be out until February 2026. El Rufai should go and find a job to do.
"He can go back to school to enrich his knowledge, or play with his grandchildren. We are too busy fixing our party, and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is busy with governance. He should not distract us."

SDP bans El-Rufai ahead of 2027 election
In a similar development, Legit.ng reported that members of the national working committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) expelled Mallam El-Rufai from the party.
SDP, one of Nigeria's prominent opposition political parties, said El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna state, is ineligible to associate with the party in any capacity for the next 30 years.
The party also accused El-Rufai of falsely parading himself as a party member, manipulating internal processes, and attempting to destabilise the party through unconstitutional actions.
