A public affairs analyst has stated that power should return to the South for another eight years after the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Donald Okwuosa said the Obi/ Nasir El-Rufai ticket under the ADC coalition would unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling APC in 2027.

He stated this while reacting to Bashir, one of the sons of El-Rufai, asking Atiku Abubakar to step down for Peter Obi.
Bashir said Obi and a strong northern candidate would set President Tinubu packing in 2027.
During an exclusive chat with Legit.ng over the weekend, Okwuosa said:
"As for an Obi/El-Rufai ticket, I consider it a perfect match. Both are men of impeccable character and integrity. They are both guided by principles and run with a mindset of excellence, also, with a Midas touch."
Will Obi/El-Rufai ticket unseat Tinubu?
The public administrator said El-Rufai did tremendously well in office as an FCT Minister and later as the Governor of Kaduna State.
According to Okwuosa, he is a strong, brilliant, and formidable force in the north and Nigerian politics, while Peter Obi, on his part, is an embodiment of character, wisdom, and grace.
He said that despite a 'server glitch' and alleged corruption that marred the 2023 presidential election, Obi still garnered over six million votes, remarking:
“A joint ticket of Obi with El-Rufai would make Obi's presence in the north more prominent. Don't forget, it was this same El-Rufai and [former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar] Ganduje who announced Tinubu to the north, giving him prominence.

“Obi with an El-Rufai is an intelligent bargain, and if properly pushed forward, would unseat 'Emilokan' from the presidency, no doubt, because the north seems to be tired of Emilokan, moreso when he didn't keep to their agreement regarding presidential appointments.”

Peter Obi 'unlikely' to get ADC ticket
Recall that a former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, reacted to the emergence of the ADC coalition against President Tinubu.
The political commentator said there was no coalition or joining of forces by opposition leaders heading into 2027.
Omokri also explained the reason Obi was very unlikely to clinch the ADC presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 Nigerian election.
Analyst dissects weak points in Obi-El-Rufai 2027 ticket
A political analyst, Tobi Olukoya, has offered a cautious assessment of the proposed Peter Obi/Nasir El-Rufai presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking with Legit.ng, Olukoya described the alliance as “a tactically sound and intellectually appealing idea” by the opposition coalition.
“It seeks to merge two contrasting yet potentially complementary political figures: Peter Obi, a symbol of reformist Southern idealism, and Nasir El-Rufai, a northern technocrat with deep administrative experience and political reach,” he said.
However, he noted that the ticket may face significant structural hurdles in the real political landscape:
“While the combination may appear balanced in theory, several structural and political realities suggest it may not be as electorally potent as it seems.”
According to him, northern political elites within the ruling APC are unlikely to support Obi over President Bola Tinubu:
“Tinubu, already in his first term, is eligible for only one more term, which may accelerate the return of power to the North. Obi, on the other hand, represents the possibility of an eight-year Southern presidency, a prospect many northern elites may be reluctant to endorse.”
How ADC presidential candidate should be picked
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported Aisha Yesufu suggested a style to adopt to determine the ADC presidential candidate.
The human rights activist said the people must decide who becomes the candidate of the ADC coalition for the polls.
Nigerians took to social media to react to Yesufu's suggestion on how to pick the ADC coalition's presidential candidate.
