How many events did El-Rufai attend in Sokoto?
Vanguard reported that during his visit to Sokoto, the former governor attended two important events meant to sensitise the people and political stakeholders working to achieve the agenda of sacking President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general election.
During his address at the event, the former governor lambasted the ruling party and called the APC “a failed, clannish, and visionless administration that has plunged Nigeria into deeper socio-economic misery.”
He declared that it was time for Nigerians to rise against the APC and accused the party of "broken promises and elite conspiracy". He warned that any move to vote for the APC beyond 2027 would be a greater doom for the country
The former governor argued that the coalition was full of technocrats, progressives, former governors, lawmakers, and civil society players who have resolved to rescue Nigeria from the APC and President Tinubu.
Coalition adopts ADC as its political platform
This came amid the adoption of the ADC as the political party of the coalition. The coalition, which started as a movement by the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who had urged the opposition leaders in the country to come together in order to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
During the adoption of the party, the party's national leadership reportedly stepped down for the coalition to appoint new interim executives for the party. During the time, former Senate President David Mark, former Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola and former minister Bolaji Abdullahi served as the national chairman, secretary and publicity secretary.
With the adoption of the party, Abejide, who remained the only federal lawmaker of the ADC, criticised the development, claiming that the party stakeholders were not all carried along.
