“I Was Blind”: Dino Melaye Breaks Silence on Backing APC to Remove Jonathan

Former Kogi senator, Dino Melaye, has expressed deep regret for previously backing the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2015 campaign that led to the removal of then-President Goodluck Jonathan, describing his past support as a mistake.

Melaye also expressed confidence in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to present a strong contender capable of unseating President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels TV Politics Today on Friday, August 1, Melaye acknowledged his past alignment with the ruling party but said he had since turned a new leaf.
“I regret in totality, just like you, supporting the APC to kick Jonathan out. President Jonathan, I am sincerely sorry,” he said.
“Once I was blind, now I can see. I regret in totality.
“Just like you confess your sins daily in the Lord’s prayer, I ask for forgiveness.
“Anyone who has moved with the devil, anyone who has aligned with an unholy tendency, should regret it,” Melaye added.

Speaking further, the former lawmaker slammed the APC administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for worsening socio-economic conditions, saying hunger and poverty have reached dangerous levels across Nigeria.
“You don’t need a prophet to tell you what is happening in this country. It is visible even to the blind and audible to the deaf.

“The hunger in the land is shattered. People are dying of malnutrition in rural communities.
“Take a trip today to your village and just announce that you want to share two bags of rice.
“If you are not careful, there will be dead casualties from the struggle to get something,” he said.
2027: ADC's candidate that will challenge Tinubu
Legit.ng reported that Dino Melaye, said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will produce a presidential candidate to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Legit.ng reports that former vice president Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi have shown interest in contesting for the 2027 election.
Melaye said that despite the bigwigs within the ADC, the party will work to present a candidate to defeat President Tinubu in 2027.
“I believe that platform will produce a candidate that will unseat President Ahmed Bola Tinubu in 2027,” he said.

Dino Melaye dumps PDP
Legit.ng earlier reported that Senator Dino Melaye, a former federal lawmaker and governorship candidate in Kogi state, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending months of speculation about his political future.
The announcement was contained in a signed letter addressed to the PDP chairman of Ward 1, Aiyetoro Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi state.
