Northern Leaders Commend Tinubu for Fulfilling Electoral Promises, ‘Progress on Infrastructure’

Prominent figures from Northern Nigeria have expressed satisfaction with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s performance, commending his administration for delivering on promises made during the 2023 presidential campaign.

Northern leaders endorse Tinubu’s policies
They made this known during a two-day interactive session on government-citizen engagement, held in Kaduna state on July 29 through 30, 2025.
The event, organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF), had its theme as: 'Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizen Engagement for National Unity.'
President Tinubu was represented at the event by the chairman of the Governors’ Forum, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
Vice President Kashim Shettima was represented by his special adviser on special duties, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar, while Kaduna state governor, Senator Uba Sani, served as the chief host.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and signed by the SABMF Director-General, Engr. Abubakar Gambo Umar, the participants noted:
“The summit concluded that Northern Nigeria acknowledges and commends the administration’s high performance in fulfilling its electoral promises in many areas and also appreciates subsisting challenges.”

‘Continued dialogue key to national unity’ - Leaders stressed
The communiqué further stressed the need for greater commitment to transparency, fairness, and equity as crucial factors in strengthening national unity and sustaining democracy.
It also called for continued collaboration between government, citizens, and stakeholders to promote peace, justice, and prosperity across the country.

The participants applauded the administration for maintaining open channels of dialogue with citizens, as well as for its achievements in security, infrastructure, and economic reforms.
“The government demonstrated openness to dialogue and continuous citizen engagement. The administration’s delivery of electoral promises in security, infrastructure, and economic reforms was high and commendable. Northern Nigeria contributes significantly to national stability, development, and electoral outcomes,” the communiqué read.
The statement emphasised ongoing major infrastructure projects in the northern part of the country, including highways, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, oil exploration at Kolmani, and rural irrigation schemes.
Dangata mentions what Tinubu should prioritise
Meanwhile, a former aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) national youth leadership, Ahmad Abba Dangata, has called on President Tinubu to focus his administration's attention on key national priorities.
In an exclusive chat with Legit.ng, Dangata said the president should concentrate on strengthening security, boosting domestic investment, and improving infrastructure.

“As a true fan of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and a full-time APC member, I want him to prioritise security, domestic investment, infrastructure, education, and empowerment,” Dangata said.
He noted that addressing these core areas would not only consolidate democratic gains but also enhance the quality of life for Nigerians. Dangata added that Tinubu’s administration has the political will and popular mandate to drive meaningful change across the country.
Legit.ng notes that the APC-led federal government has faced growing pressure to curb insecurity, revive the economy, and expand educational and employment opportunities amid rising inflation and youth unemployment.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Sani, on Saturday, July 26, asserted that former president Goodluck Jonathan should emerge as his party’s presidential candidate rather than Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
The media aide to former vice president Namadi Sambo stated that whether the speculations are true or false, the North will prefer Jonathan to Obi.
