Nigerian Governor Sacks Commissioners, Announces Replacements
- The governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum, has dissolved his cabinet and dropped two commissioners from their appointments and, in a twist, announced their replacements

Borno state - As part of a cabinet reshuffle aimed at revitalizing governance and enhancing service delivery, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno state has relieved two commissioners of their duties and announced their replacements.

The governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, confirmed this in a statement released on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
According to the statement, the officials affected are the commissioners for Environment, Engr Emat Kois, and Intergovernmental and Special Duties, Hon Tukur Ibrahim.
As reported by Daily Trust, Zulum expressed appreciation to the two officials and wished them the best in their future endeavours.

Zulum makes key replacements
In a twist, Governor Zulum announced that Engr. Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan will replace the two sacked officials.
Zulum also approved Professor Yusuf Gana Balami’s appointment as the executive chairman of Borno state secondary education board.
Who is Professor Balami?
Balami, Professor of Education Psychology, hails from Hawul, in the southern part of the state.
He worked with Borno State Ministry of Education between 1984 and 1988, and later proceeded to the University of Maiduguri as graduate assistant and he became a professor in 2014.
He is a member of several professional bodies and has authored countless publications as lead author or co-author.
Benue gov dissolves cabinet, appoints new CoS
Legit.ng understands that Zulum took this action barely 24-hour after Benue state governor Hyacinth Alia dissolved the Benue State Executive Council.
The governor appointed a former two-term Attorney General of the state and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Moses Atagher as new Chief of Staff.

Nasarawa governor dissolves cabinet
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Nasarawa governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, dissolved the state's executive council (SEC).
The governor appreciated the outgone commissioners for the services rendered and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavours.
In the same vein, the secretary to the government of Nasarawa state was fired and was directed to hand over to the permanent secretary, cabinet affairs and special services.
