Dr. Emeka Kalu, President of ECK Foundation, has thrown his weight behind Atiku Abubakar's 2027 presidential bid, citing his potential to steer Nigeria out of its current economic and security challenges.

Kalu asserted in a statement on Thursday, July 31, that Atiku’s political track record makes him the ideal candidate to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, as reported by The Sun.
He stressed the importance of embracing Atiku's leadership vision to revitalise Nigeria's economy, given his impressive record of driving growth, securing investments, and generating employment opportunities during his time as Vice President.

Furthermore, Kalu expressed Atiku's unique ability in building connections across Nigeria's diverse regions, underscoring his potential to unite the citizens of Nigeria across the different geopolitical regions in the country under effective leadership.
“An Atiku presidency will lead to significant advancements in investment, infrastructure, security and will ultimately revitalise Nigeria’s crumbling economy.
Also, Atiku as a detribalised Nigerian who can bring people together. It is regrettable that ethnic tensions have plagued Nigeria’s political landscape for a long time,” he said.
Kalu emphasised the importance of unity among opposition parties, warning that any coalition without a unified purpose would be ineffective.
He further urged Nigerians to support Atiku’s candidacy, reiterating the need for selfless, capable, and trusted leadership to drive Nigeria’s economic stability as one of his beliefs in the 2023 presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who assumed office in 2023 after a hard-fought victory, is already facing a chorus of opposition from key political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi.
The "mega coalition", led by Atiku to unseat Tinubu in the next election, had had the support of several influential politicians across different regions and party affiliations. This coalition is exploring ways to create a unified front to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the ballot box in 2027.
Political bigwigs quit APC to join ADC
Legit.ng also reported that since it was unveiled earlier in July as the official coalition platform of some prominent opposition figures, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has attracted top politicians from Nigeria's north-west geopolitical zone.
Legit.ng reports that so far, top politicians from different political parties, including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), have joined the party in the area.
