The governor appointed a former two-term Attorney General of the state and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Moses Atagher as new Chief of Staff.
Barr. Atagher, a seasoned administrator is also former acting Managing Director, Federal Mortgage Bank. His appointment takes immediate effect.

The decision was announced by the governor at the close of the 12th (2025) meeting of the Benue State Executive Council.
Sir Tersoo Kula, the chief press secretary to the governor, confirmed this in a statement made available to Legit.ng on Wednesday, July 30.

"He appreciates all the former Commissioners who worked with him for two years, calling on those who may not be called back or reappointed to stay in the party and continue to liaise with the system as they are only paving way for other citizens who may be chosen to replace them to also contribute their quota," the statement said.
Aside the Chief of Staff, Governor Alia announced that the dissolution affects only commissioners.
Speaking on behalf of the dissolved commissioners, Barr. Bemsen Mnyim appreciated the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve the state.
According to him,
"At every stage in life, everywhere you are called to serve is a school. We have learnt a lot while working with you."
Benue commissioners told to handover
Meanwhile, the former commissioners were directed to handover to the permanent secretaries of their ministries as soon as possible.
Interestingly, this is not the first time a governor will dissolve his cabinet and sack all commissioners.
Nasarawa governor dissolves cabinet
Legit.ng reported that Nasarawa governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, dissolved the state's executive council (SEC).
The governor appreciated the outgone commissioners for the services rendered and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavours.
In the same vein, the secretary to the government of Nasarawa state was fired and was directed to hand over to the permanent secretary, cabinet affairs and special services.

Benue governor Alia reacts to killings
Elsewhere, Legit.ng reported that Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue condemned "in strong terms" the attacks and massacre of innocent citizens at Yelewata by suspected criminal herders.
According to a statement by Tersoo Kula, Alia's chief press secretary (CPS), the governor asserted that nothing should warrant the taking of life.
Deputy Governor of the state, Barrister Sam Ode, who visited the scene of the heinous act earlier today, Sunday, June 15, on the directives of the governor, delivered the message.
