Godsent said the move is part of the resolve by ADC South East zone to deliver South East to the party in the 2027 elections.
He further stated that some members of the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly members will also announce their defection to the ADC in the coming months.
He claimed that a member of the House of Representatives who spoke in anonymity said:
“They have decided to join ADC in order to join forces with progressives to eject the Ahmed Bola Tinubu-led government of poverty and hardship in 2027.”

Legit.ng reports that the opposition coalition movement led by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, adopted the ADC as a platform to unseat President Bola Ahmed in the 2027 election.
The coalition has continued to garner momentum in recent weeks, with political observers analysing the party's chances against the APC.

Recall that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) recently made an allegation about the move by the current administration against state governors willing to join the coalition.
Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC's national publicity secretary, addressed the actual reason why Nigerian governors were reluctant to be part of the coalition party ahead of the 2027 election.
Abdullahi spoke days after the former Jigawa state governor, Sule Lamido, alleged that President Tinubu was intimidating the opposition in Nigeria.

APC member speaks on coalition
Meanwhile, a former aspirant for the position of national youth leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmad Abba Dangata, has expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s re-election prospects in 2027, dismissing concerns about the strength of the coalition.
“I’m not afraid of any coalition that will work against Tinubu 2027. Asiwaju’s victory in 2027 is assured,” Dangata said in an exclusive chat with Legit.ng.

Dangata said the president remains the strongest candidate in the field, citing what he described as growing grassroots support and the administration’s ongoing reforms.
His comments come amid the growing influence of the coalition ahead of the next general elections, following growing economic concerns and public dissatisfaction in some quarters.
President Tinubu, who took office in May 2023, has launched sweeping economic reforms aimed at stabilising the economy, including ending fuel subsidies and unifying the exchange rate. Critics say the policies have worsened inflation, but the presidency insists the steps are necessary for long-term growth.
