As reported by Daily Trust, Dankwambo, representing Gombe North Senatorial District, stated this during an Expanded Stakeholders’ Meeting of the PDP.
According to Dankwambo, the PDP 2023 presidential candidate is a widely respected leader whose status remains unchanged.
“It’s time to rebuild our party, today, it’s not about contesting for elections. But we have leaders we recognise, like in the north; Atiku Abubakar is our leader, we love and like him, and by virtue of his position as a former vice president, he is our leader whether he is in PDP or ADC.”
Dankwambo called on the PDP members in the state to focus on rebuilding the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former governor said the PDP must be fully repositioned before any member declares to contest for any political post.
“We are not talking about contests now. All we are after is to rebuild our party and position it for victory. All those wishing to contest should wait. Let’s build the party first.”

“ADC coalition will take over power": Atiku declares
Recall that Atiku assured that the newly adopted coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), will challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Atiku stated this recently and maintained that Nigeria "can never be a one-party state," hence the need for the ADC to unseat Tinubu and the ruling APC in 2027.
The former VP and presidential hopeful explained how the ADC has dominated Nigeria's political landscape within three weeks of its adoption by the coalition.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Atiku called out President Tinubu to stop meddling in the internal affairs of the opposition parties.
The former vice president said President Tinubu should respond to the alleged rift between him and Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as focus on governance and clear his economic mess.
Atiku's comments were a response to Tinubu's criticism of his coalition movement and the recent adoption of the ADC.
