Legit.ng reported that Kwankwaso, the NNPP 2023 presidential candidate, accused Tinubu's administration of sidelining the northern region.
The former governor of Kano state, Kwankwaso, alleged that Tinubu is using northern resources to develop the southern region.

But speaking during an interview on Trust TV's Sunday Politics, Lawal said there is no visible evidence of federal government projects ongoing in the north.
“Every Nigerian that has anything to do with the north will know that no infrastructure work is going on at any level,” he said.
Explaining further, the former SGF said Kwankwaso, was right.
“So, Kwankwaso knows what he’s talking about. And it doesn’t need to be Kwankwaso to say what he said. Every sensible, honest Nigerian will know that the north is being marginalised.”
Speaking further, Lawal said many northerners believe the Tinubu administration is not just ignoring the region but actively rolling back existing gains.

Tinubu having anti-north agenda - Lawal alleges
As reported by The Cable, he questioned the viability of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the region ahead of the 2027 election.
“Which elected official, a northerner, will go into the campaign on the platform of the APC in this coming election?” he asked.
“Nobody. Except, ab initio, you have no plan to win the election. Unless they join ADC, they will not win—simply because they belong to the destructive party.”
Continuing, Lawal accused the Tinubu-led government of having an anti-north agenda.
“Everything that this government does is designed to destroy the north,” he said.
Presidency addresses Kwankwaso’s remarks
Meanwhile, the presidency has strongly denied the allegations of northern neglect, citing a raft of major infrastructure, health, and agricultural projects currently underway in the region.
The rebuttal reignites debate over regional equity as Nigeria prepares for the 2025 constitutional review.
In response, Sunday Dare, special adviser to the president on media and public communication, addressed Kwankwaso’s assertions, and referenced the 614 km Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano Gas Pipeline, the Gwagwalada Power Plant, and proposed solar power facilities in Kaduna.

2027: Why Jonathan is north’s best choice
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Sani, on Saturday, July 26, asserted that former president Goodluck Jonathan should emerge as his party’s presidential candidate rather than Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
The media aide to former vice president Namadi Sambo stated that whether the speculations are true or false, the North will prefer Jonathan to Obi.
