2027 Election: “ADC Coalition Will Take Over Power From Tinubu": Atiku Declares

Atiku, who decried the lack of ideology by political parties in the country, maintained that the ADC is coming with a clear ideology to tackle the nation’s economic and other problems.

The former VP remarked in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti state, during the unveiling and inauguration of the state ADC executive council over the weekend, Leadership reported.

Atiku, represented by Prof Bayode Fakunle, said Nigeria has changed politically and there are several political parties without ideology.

According to him:

“ADC was launched just about three weeks ago and within two weeks, it has become the most dominant party in the country and all other parties are already jittery. It is a party with ideology, peopled by those that are ready to save Nigeria, because Nigeria should not and can never be a one party state.
“ADC is for all Nigerians, it is a party that will change the political landscape of this country and everyone is welcomed with open hands and by the grace of God, this party will take over the leadership of this country come 2027.”

2027: Atiku told not to step aside for southern candidate

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, spokesperson of the New Democratic Frontiers, urged Atiku Abubakar not to step down for a southern candidate in the ADC.

Speaking exclusively with Legit.ng on Sunday, July 20, 2025, Akinniyi, mentioned the implication of Atiku stepping aside for a southerner to emerge as the presidential candidate of the ADC coalition in 2027.

Why Atiku cannot contest for 2027 presidency

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that in a trending interview on Thursday night, July 17, Bode George, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), criticised Atiku and some other party members who joined the ADC coalition without resigning from the party.

George stated that Atiku cannot contest for the 2027 presidential election under the PDP because it is against the party's constitution, hence the reason he adopted the ADC.
