Lady Dies as River Sweeps Her Away While Trying to Save Her Sister From Drowning

A woman tragically died while attempting to save her sister, who was on the verge of drowning.
The woman is identified as Jomarie Calasanz, and her body was found two months after her death.

According a report by PEOPLE, Jomarie, who was a better swimmer attempted to save her sister, was swept away by water currents.
The tragic incident happened in a river in Sequoia National Park on May 5.
In a statement, Superintendent Clay Jordan from the Tulare County Sheriff's Office said people should be more careful while visiting rivers.

He said:
"I am extremely grateful for the coordination, support, and determination by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office and our NPS team in the continued search for Jomarie. I hope this brings some level of closure to the family.
"We would like to remind the public that rivers remain dangerous even with lower flow rates later in the season. Please stay away from swift water, be sure to wear a life jacket, and keep children close along the river’s edge."
Also, a GoFundMe account was opened to raise funds for the family, stating that Calasanz died as a hero.
It reads:
"On 5/25/25, family and friends drove up from LA area to Sequoia National Park for a day trip by the river. What was supposed to be a fun, bonding moment very quickly turned into a traumatic event that will stick with us forever.
"While taking the first dip of the day in deceivingly calm waters, Joanne, Jomarie's older sister, started to get swept away. With a brave loving heart and amazing courage, Jomarie, being a swimmer, instantly swam to save her sister. Both quickly got swept away into the rapids.

"While the river released Joanne, it is our deepest regret to inform everyone that Jomarie has not yet been found. Please continue to pray for her recovery, so that we may be reunited once more before we say our final goodbye.
"Jomarie Calasanz has touched the lives of many with her voice, service, kindness, smile, laughter, generosity, and more. She was 26, and her passing was sudden and tragic for the family. In her last moments she was a hero, we will honor her life by remembering her as such."

Father dies in Texas flooding
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the devastating floods that happened in Texas took the life of a man who was trying desperately to save his children.
The man, identified as John Burgess, was staying at the Blue Oak RV Park in Kerr County when the flooding happened.
He was swept away by the flood while still holding on to his two children, according to eyewitnesses.
