Halima's situation was dire, having lost her mother who had promised to enroll her in school, and her father was not in a position to support her education.

Despite these challenges, Halima had been teaching in schools and earning N7,000 monthly salary, which she used to support herself.

Halima's hard work paid off, and her WAEC result was really impressive. She scored A1 in Marketing, Economics, Biology, and Chemistry, B3 in Civic Education and Physics, C6 in English Language, and B2 in Agricultural Science.

Na'ima Hudu recounted her conversation with Halima, saying:

"Halima's WAEC is out. If you don't know about Halima, I slept like a baby last night. Do you know why? I was able to educate a girl child, to an extent, making her see life beyond getting married, having children and just being a married woman revolving her existence around children and husband while they carry on with their personal development and growth. I have always known Halima to be a respectful, decent, and intelligent girl who turned 18 this year.

"I overheard her in a conversation with an older neighbor talking about saving up to start acquiring "kitchen equipment" while waiting for a husband to come. I was shocked and pissed to my bones! How could this be this innocent girl's plan and one who was supposed to guide her is encouraging her the wrong way? This is a girl I know who has not been able to write WAEC and JAMB because she has no money. She lost her mum who had promised to enroll her last year. Dad is not qualified; from what they told me, I am not sure sha.
"I sat her down and spoke to her. I asked if getting married was what she wanted and she outrightly told me she wanted to further her education but there was no money. Since this girl graduated from Secondary school, she has been teaching in both Islamic and Western schools and her monthly take home is 7k, excluding transportation fare. From the 7k she takes out of it once in a while to eat as food is not always available at home.

"The Proprietor never pays her completely. He sometimes pays half or never pays then carries over her salary to the next month's end and still ends up paying just for a month. Before we parted ways, Halima promised to divert her little savings to the purpose of WAEC and JAMB, instead of "kitchen items". If Halima can save up a substantial amount of money, In Shaa Allah, I will help her complete the balance and the rest will be history if Allah will.
"Halima is willing to teach in a school with better pay within Kaduna metropolis, Mando to be precise to enable her to save better. She had shown interest in NCE but I advised her to go to Kaduna Polytechnic instead. From what I deduced, Halima isn't comfortable staying in the house with her step mum hence the interest in marriage as an escape route plus lack of finance. I pray Halima can achieve this certification and make good use of it."
