A Facebook post by Hamza Nuhu Dantani, Safiya's lawyer, disclosed more information on the matter.
The lawyer first noted that Safiya had given him her consent and approval to share the details with the public.
He made it clear that Safiya's primary reason for publicly announcing her divorce was her desire to move on and get married again.
According to him, keeping her marital status private had taken a toll on her mental health, leaving her feeling isolated and depressed.
The lawyer said she had been divorced from Ahmed for about three times within five months, and now, she finally decided to make it public.

In his words:
"It is based on Safiya’s (XM's ex-wife) consent, approval, and kind permission, as her Counsel, I am Authorized and compelled to inform the General Public, although she has written it herself on her verified IG page for public consumption! That she has been divorced (3X) for almost 5 months, The reason is that she is willing to get married to another. Keeping this issue private kept her lonely, depressed and prevented her from getting another man, as everyone assumed she was a married woman. Abun ya saka ta cikin damuwa ne, kuma tana son yin Aure. Reactions as lawyer confirms Safiya, Ahmed's divorce
Nigerians stormed the comments section to react to the new development.
Tijjani Shettima said:
"Thank you for the clarity and honesty. May Allah ease your path and grant you happiness and a blessed new beginning. No one deserves to be held back by assumptions. Wishing you peace and joy ahead."
Musa Shugaba said:
"The problem is that, the house that she left and the one that she may go to, if there isn't a balance of the balance diet, you know that there's a capital froblem."
IBN Magana said:
"I feel sorry for the calm lady who chose marriage over unnecessary fame. I pray for her to be blessed with a handsome man that is just and promising."
Mustapha Aminu added:
"Social media is indeed a double-edged sword. While it can be a platform for connection and clarity, it has also become a tool that forces people to publicize what Islam has honored as private. Divorce is a painful matter, but having to announce it for societal validation or fear of misjudgment shows how destructive public assumptions and online pressures have become. May Allah grant Safiya peace, healing, and a righteous spouse. Let’s remember: not everything that trends is wise, and not everything private should be public. We ask Allah to purify our intentions, protect our dignity, and guide our actions online and offline."
