A young lady, Anita Adili, who bagged a first-class degree from Babcock University, shared her experience as an undergraduate.

She graduated with a cumulative grade point average of 4.76 from the Department of International Law and Diplomacy.

Babcock University first-class student wanted to study law

Anita, who hailed from Anambra but grew up in Lagos, stated that she had always wanted to study law but fell in love with international law and diplomacy along the line.

She said:

“I finished secondary school in 2021. My WAEC result was quite good. I got 2 A1s, 2 B2s, and 4 B3s. Initially, I wanted to study Law, but my JAMB score didn’t meet the cut-off mark. Later in my second year, I qualified to switch to Law, but by then, I had already fallen in love with International Law and Diplomacy. I saw a future in it a global one so I decided to stay and fully commit to the course.
"I chose Babcock because it gave me the platform to grow academically, spiritually, and professionally.”

Speaking of starting university at a young age, Anita added:

“I got into university at age 15, turning 16. Honestly, it didn’t affect my relationship with older classmates. There wasn’t much of an age gap it felt like we were all babies sent to college. We connected more based on maturity and shared experiences than age.”

Anita speaks on achieving first-class degree at 19

The intelligent young lady mentioned how she was able to get a first class at 19, alongside some challenges she faced.

She said:

“Graduating with a first class wasn’t easy, but it certainly wasn’t impossible. I believed in my goals and remained determined to achieve them from the very start. I began my academic journey with a CGPA of 4.21, and to end with a 4.79, I had to consistently push myself. I hit GPA 5.0 three times and 4.8 twice.
"I read every single day except on Sabbath and was intentional about growth in all aspects spiritually, academically, and personally. One of the things that helped me was building a close relationship with God and becoming more accountable for my actions.

Anita opened up about some positions she held as an undergraduate.

Her words:

“I also held several leadership positions throughout my university journey, but the most challenging of all was in my final year when I served as the Graduating Class Project Coordinator.”

Anita speaks on getting US job in 300 level

The Babcock University graduate shared how she worked in the United States during her summer break in 300 level.

She told Legit.ng:

"I worked outside school to support myself. I worked three jobs in South Dakota, USA, during my 300-level summer. It wasn’t remote, I got the opportunity through a travel agency. I took a 7am–9pm job in the U.S. for four months, got promoted twice, and was even requested to return but due to the new U.S. visa restrictions, I couldn’t.”

Speaking on how the job affected her studies, she added:

“Thankfully, it didn’t affect my studies because it was during the summer break and the school session had already ended. It was a very intense yet eye-opening experience.”

Anita said she aspired to become an international lawyer and contribute to solving global issues.

She added:

“That’s why I aspire to work with the United Nations.”
