Man From China Laments Bitterly as Flood Overtakes His House, Carries His Refrigerator
- The flood that killed at least 30 people in China also affected a man who said his house was submerged
- But unlike those who died, the man identified as Pang was lucky to escape alive, but lost some properties
- According to Pang, he had never witnessed such a flood, describing it as something that happens only once in 100 years
A man from China has shared the experience he had during the flood that ravaged parts of the country on Monday, July 28.
The flood in China killed at least 30 people and damaged a lot of properties in the affected areas.

Quoting Chinese state broadcaster CCTV, the Guardian UK reports that as of midnight on Monday, 28 people died in Beijing’s Miyun district.
Also, two others in Yanqing district as of midnight, bringing the number to 30 people.
According to reports, the heavy rains continued around Beijing and surrounding provinces on Monday, with the showers reaching up to 543.4mm. 80,322 people were evacuated to safety.
Meanwhile, a man who lost some property in the incident said he had never seen such a flood before.
According to the man identified as Pang, such a flood happens once in 100 years.
He told AFP, quoted by France24:
"It's the kind of flood seen once in a hundred years."
Pang survived, but he lost some property, including a refrigerator.
He said:
"Previous years have never been like this."
Another local woman, identified as Zhao told AFP that her house was also affected.
She said:
"It was a mess, the mud was this thick. My mother and I shovelled it, but we couldn't get it out. We didn't know what to do so we just picked up some clothes and took shelter in a high place."
When she returned from the shelter, she said their house had been flooded.
Her words:
"The refrigerator, washing machine and other things in the kitchen were all soaked. There was also this thick mud all over the kitchen."

Xuebin Zhang of the University of Victoria in Canada and CEO of the Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium told Reuters that the high volume of rainfall was to blame for the flooding.
Zhang said:
"The cumulative amount of precipitation has been extremely high - reaching 80–90% of the annual total in just a few days in some areas. Very few systems are designed to handle such an intense volume of rainfall over such a short period."

Father dies in Texas flooding
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the devastating floods that happened in Texas took the life of a man who was trying desperately to save his children.
The man, identified as John Burgess, was staying at the Blue Oak RV Park in Kerr County when the flooding happened.
He was swept away by the flood while still holding on to his two children, according to eyewitnesses.

Lorena Guillen, the owner of the Blue Oak RV Park in Kerr County, witnessed the devastating scene.
She told the New York Post:
“My husband was in the water trying to ask them, please throw me your baby!’ The man was holding tight to his babies, and he just got swept away."
