Sosan, who shared the video, said the substance had a bad odour, noting it was the worst thing she had ever smelt.

"You arrive in New York on a Virgin Atlantic flight and they've emptied the plane toilet (poo & wee) on your suitcase. It was the worst thing I’ve ever smelled in my life. They didn’t even tell us!"

Sosan claims that there were some children who disembarked from the aircraft with poo all over them.

She said:

"They didn’t even make an announcement!! There were children with poo all over them."

The airline said it was aware of the development but denied that what was on the bags was faeces.

It said:

"We're aware of a New York JFK system failure that affected the baggage of a small number of arriving customers on July 14," a spokesperson said. "We're working closely with the team at JFK and local authorities to ensure the issue is resolved. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to affected customers."

"Wait.. sooo the luggage crew decided to still put in on the trolly then loaded it on the conveyor belt to go through an airport…. Instead of calling someone to maybe leave the bags on the tarmac and inform the passengers what happened?? You just contaminated a whole terminal!"

@suspended_cat said:

"I thought the sentence was gonna be "passengers were given vouchers" not "passengers were given advice" they just got advice?"

@amyinutahspups said:

"That's against SO many health and safety regulations....the people loading the bags onto the conveyor belt knew that when they loaded it....no one wanted to be the ones to see the problem!?"

@cristinokeeffe said:

"Yeah, until they can explain what happened and why they could dang well professionally clean each piece of luggage."

@chinmay.aero asked:

"First of all, who handled them and why would you place them on the belts if you know they are damaged. Which brains were behind this masterpiece of art? Absolute shiit show."
