Men are drawn to 'celebrities of the sky' - Expert

Addressing lingering stereotypes about the job, bilingual ex-flight attendant and customer engagement expert, Blessing Megwara, said the profession requires rigorous training and competence far beyond what many assume.

Speaking with Legit.ng, she noted stereotypes are less about relationship issues and more about perceived promiscuity or shallowness of the role:

"I feel it's a myth. Men are even more attracted to flight attendants, be it for fun or for keeps. They are curiously attracted to the celebrities of the sky. The stereotypes are more centered around promiscuity and unavailability in the relationship. Other stereotypes are ‘you people just serve tea and coffee,’ not knowing that it's more deep and vast, like having to master aviation security, medicine, standard operating procedures, survival, etc., for the safety of the passengers and crew. Being ghosted by men is far from it. One needs to be more than a flight attendant for that to be their fate.”

"The company was one of the best things that happened to me, because I met amazing people, I learnt from the best, and it shapened me. It was the first aviation industry that I have ever worked for, and you know how your first love can be, it is here (touches her chest region)."
