PDP Can’t Delay Decision on Wike Any Longer, Says Bode George
- Chief Olabode George has said the PDP can no longer postpone action on the internal crisis involving FCT Minister Nyesom Wike
- George noted that the party risks appearing weak if it fails to take a stand, stressing that patience with Wike and his camp has run out
- The PDP Southern bloc has also reached a zoning decision which will be presented at the NEC meeting scheduled for Monday
Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has declared that the party can no longer delay action on the lingering controversies surrounding Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
George said the PDP had shown enough patience with Wike and his allies, but the time had come for a firm decision.

According to him, the party risks being viewed as weak if it continues to avoid addressing the crisis directly.
“The party will address the Wike issue this time around. At the previous NEC meeting, we considered taking a decision, but it was agreed that more time should be given to engage with the members of the House who had decamped. That time has now expired, and we must take a decisive step; otherwise, the party risks being seen as indecisive,” he said.
George spoke shortly after attending the Southern Zoning Consultative Meeting held in Lagos, where key party figures gathered to deliberate on pressing internal matters.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri were among those present.
Makinde addresses PDP crisis
Makinde, who addressed journalists after the closed-door meeting, explained that the southern bloc of the party had reached a decision on zoning, which would be formally presented to the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Monday.
However, George maintained that while zoning remained important, the larger issue confronting the PDP was the defiance within its ranks.

He noted that Wike’s open opposition to the proposed party convention slated for Ibadan in November was a clear sign of the internal tension that could no longer be ignored.
He insisted that the forthcoming NEC meeting must serve as the turning point, adding that the party’s unity and credibility depended on its ability to resolve the matter once and for all.
Bode George: Davido helping Osun to pay state workers
Earlier, Legit.ng elder statesman and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, had alleged that music star Davido, alongside his father Deji Adeleke, and Governor Ademola Adeleke, have been responsible for paying the salaries of Osun state local government workers for months.
George made the claim during an interview on Nigeria Info FM, Lagos, where he said the federal government had failed to remit allowances to the state for about six months.
He suggested that the Adeleke family had taken up the burden, possibly through loans, to ensure workers were not left unpaid. The PDP stalwart also spoke about Governor Adeleke’s political future as he revealed that the Osun leader once considered defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
