Shehu Sani Names Southeast State Most Missing or Stolen Northern Children Are Found

  • Former Senator Shehu Sani has alleged that most of the missing or stolen children from the northern parts of the country are found in Anambra
  • The Kaduna-born human rights activist turned politician said that his claim was based on reports that have been published so far, although he did not mention any to buttress his point
  • Shehu Sani's comment on child trafficking in the country has started generating mixed reactions from concerned Nigerians

Shehu Sani, the ex-senator who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly, has claimed that most of the children stolen or missing from the northern parts of the country are found in Anambra, a southeast state.

In a tweet on Thursday, August 21, 2025, the Kaduna-born politician claimed his remark was based on the reports published over the years. He called on Governor Charles Soludo to look into the matter and address the development.

His tweet reads:

"The reports published over the years had shown that most of the children stolen or missing in Northern states ended up or were mostly found in Anambra State. Governor Soludo should crack down on this syndicate allegedly involved in these criminal activities."

He, however, did not provide any evidence of the said reports to back up his now-viral claim.

Nigerians react to Shehu Sani's claim

Shehu Sani's post has started generating mixed reactions from concerned Nigerians. Below are some of their reactions:

Eniola Daniel wrote:

"Most child trafficking is perpetrated by people in Edo and the east. God will punish anyone who sees this as tribalism. This is based on reports and not fabricated. We must look into the activities of those destroying our nation and not arguing based on tribe."

Obi Nna commented:

"Soludo is now Nigerian DSS, police and army all rolled into one. This is how you people divert attention from where blame is supposed to be apportioned for crimes that the FG mischievously enable and condones. Do you need an oracle to tell you that DSS has all the intelligence around what you talk about, while the army and police, as well as the DSS, have all the instruments of coercion? I am not his fan, but what does Soludo have?

Martin Tobenna said:

"The North supplies the teens to the East and the East supplies Adults to them, but because they don’t grow to expand in economy, people rather judge wrongly when they see impacts from the Easterners in their land. No hidden agenda, they just have to be open to civic developments."

Victor Udofia pointed out:

"Some years ago, I watched a TV program called Journalist Hangout. And the presenter of that program said that most of the children that missing from the north, it's the parents who sold them for little money because of hunger.

Olalekan Nicholas Babatunde advised:

"I think North also needs to do something about irresponsible and indiscriminate procreation. Parents should have the number of children they have the means to care for. Roaming around without any parental supervision always puts children in danger."
