Jubilation as Japan Announces Special Visa for Nigerians After Tinubu's Visit

The Japanese government has disclosed that Nigerians who want to visit the country will soon be granted a special visa following President Bola Tinubu's attendance at "the 9th Tokyo International Conference for African Development."
As part of the event sideline, the Japanese authority also named "the city of Kisarazu as the hometown for Nigerians willing to live and work in the country." The development was disclosed in a statement signed by Abiodun Oladunjoye, the director of information at the state house.

Nigeria strengthens relationship with Japan
According to the statement shared by President Tinubu's special assistant on social media, Dada Olusegun, the development was part of the strategic efforts to strengthen the "cultural diplomacy, promote economic growth and enhance workforce productivity" between Nigeria and Japan.
The statement further explained that under the new partnership between Nigeria and Japan, the special visa would be for those who are "highly skilled, innovative, and talented young Nigerians who want to move to Kisarazu to live and work."
It further explained that artisans and other blue-collar workers from Nigeria who have the interest to upskill themselves can also benefit from the special dispensation visa in Japan.
The statement also reads in part:
"Japan International Cooperation Agency, in a ceremony, also named the cities of Nagai in Yamagata Prefecture the hometown of Tanzania, Sanjo in Niigata Prefecture the hometown of Ghana, and Imabari in Ehime Prefecture the hometown of Mozambique."

Tinubu speaks from Japan
Speaking at the conference, President Tinubu called on Nigerians in the diaspora to contribute their expertise and resources to consolidating national development and building a stronger and more prosperous country.
President Tinubu made the call on Thursday, August 22, at Kahala Hotel and Resort, Yokohama, Japan, during an interactive meeting with select members of the Nigerian community on the sidelines of the ongoing ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development.
The meeting brought together professionals and entrepreneurs across various fields, and the President shared his administration’s achievements and assured them of his commitment to driving economic growth.
Tinubu expressed delight at meeting those he described as a vibrant representation of Nigeria’s diversity, assuring the Diaspora community that his government is determined to make the country conducive for all citizens.

“Fix hardship”: Okonjo-Iweala tells Tinubu
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the director general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Thursday, held a crucial meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
In a twist, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who commended Tinubu's government for stabilising the economy, urged the president to fix hardship and grow the economy.
