Wike praised both Aduda and Maikalangu for their capacity to bring development to their communities.

He promised the construction of a 2km road in Karu, responding to Aduda’s request, adding that he would support those who continue to back the Tinubu-led administration.

“There is a road where you said is about 2km, is it not? Consider it done. One thing about government and politics: support those who have capacity to bring something to the people. Support those that government will listen to,” Wike said.

He also commended Maikalangu as “very good and hardworking,” noting that he had facilitated several government projects in AMAC, including Saburi Road, Kabusa-Takushere Road, and Deidei Road.

“For me, I’m here to talk about those who have access to government and bring something to the people. The chairman has access to us. Anything he tells us, we will do. If he wins as chairman of AMAC, we will give him whatever he wants. I don’t know the party he belongs to. But I know that he supports Tinubu. Anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him,” he added.

The minister also criticised previous administrations for failing to provide essential services such as potable water to Karu communities. He emphasised that the Tinubu administration had fulfilled its promise to deliver clean water.

“We have had a government who stayed here for five years, isn’t that correct? Have any previous governments provided you water? This government promised it and we have come to deliver. The people of Karu will remember a government that remembers them,” Wike stated.

Background on Aduda and Maikalangu

Aduda represented the FCT under the Peoples Democratic Party between 2011 and 2015, and was re-elected in 2015 and 2019 before losing the seat in 2023.

Meanwhile, Maikalangu is seeking re-election as AMAC Chairman in the February 2026 Area Council elections on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, after defecting from the PDP in 2024.
