Breaking: Oyo Govt Announces Date Ladoja Will Be Crowned 44th Olubadan

Investigations revealed that his nomination has been approved by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state.

As reported by The Punch, the state delegation met with Ladoja and other members of the Olubadan-In-Council at his Bodija private residence on Wednesday, August 20.

It will be recalled that Ladoja had, on Tuesday, met with the kingmakers at his residence.

How Ladoja was nominated as 44th Olubadan

Legit.ng earlier reported that Oba Rashidi Ladoja was nominated as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland by the Olubadan-In-Council, setting the stage for the former governor to ascend the historic throne.

The decision was reached on Monday at the Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo state.

Although Oba Ladoja was absent during the meeting, council members unanimously endorsed his nomination.

Presiding over the gathering, the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, confirmed the development.

“We (members of the Olubadan-In-Council) have all signed and nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland. We will forward the resolutions of our meeting to our Governor, Seyi Makinde. He will now pick a date to present a staff of Office to the new Olubadan,” he announced.

Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Olakulehin, is dead

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, joined his ancestors at the age of 90.

Oba Olakulehin passed away on Monday morning, July 7, 2025. He ascended the throne following the death of his predecessor, Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who passed away on March 14, 2024, at the age of 81. Prior to his ascension, Oba Olakulehin held the prestigious title of Balogun Olubadan.

The late Oba Olakulehin received the staff of office from Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state, on July 12, 2024, as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
