Court Delivers Judgment Against 2 Notorious Drug Kingpins, Details Emerge

Lagos state - The Federal High Court in Lagos has convicted and sentenced two notorious drug kingpins, Ajetsibo Emami and Solomon Akpomuai, for illicit drug trafficking.
Delivering judgment on 18 August, the presiding judge, Justice Deinde Dipeolu, convicted 37-year-old Emami on a one-count charge of drug dealing.

He was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment, with an option of paying a fine of ₦50 million in lieu of jail time, The Cable reported.
Emami was apprehended in Ikeja, Lagos, on 28 June 2025, after operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) stormed a drug trafficking network during a three-day operation.
During the raid, 24 “jumbo” bags containing 681 pouches of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabls, weighing 414.2 kilograms, were recovered.
Akpomuai jailed over skunk trafficking
In a separate judgment, Justice Dipeolu convicted 51-year-old Akpomuai, sentencing him to four years’ imprisonment with an option of a ₦50 million fine.
Akpomuai was arrested on 3 June by customs officers along the Shagamu–Ijebu Ode expressway.
He was found in possession of 2,197.8 kilograms of skunk, another cannabls strain, concealed for trafficking.
Following his arrest, he was handed over to the NDLEA and arraigned for drug trafficking in large commercial quantities.
NDLEA hails conviction as major breakthrough
Reacting to the development, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman of the NDLEA, hailed the conviction as a major milestone in Nigeria’s war against illicit drugs.

NDLEA arrests prominent Lagos prophet
Previously, Legit.ng reported that operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, the founder and general overseer (GO) of The Turn of Mercy Church.
According to a statement on Sunday morning, August 10, by Femi Babafemi, NDLEA's spokesperson, obtained by Legit.ng, Prophet Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, was nabbed for allegedly masterminding multiple shipments of illicit drugs into Nigeria.
Prophet Adefolusho was arrested at his church premises, located in Okun Ajah, Ogombo road, Lekki area of Lagos state on Sunday, August 3, 2025, by NDLEA officers.
