Why It's Impossible for Kwankwaso to Join APC, Buba Galadima Shares
- Buba Galadima has ruled out the possibility of Rabiu Kwankwaso joining the All Progressives Congress, citing the emirship dispute in Kano
- He accused the federal government of installing a parallel emir and backing the move with heavy police security
- Galadima maintained that such interference undermines Kano’s authority and makes cooperation with the APC impossible
Buba Galadima, a prominent member of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), has dismissed the possibility of former presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso working with the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the ongoing tussle over the Kano Emirate.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Galadima faulted the federal government for what he described as a deliberate attempt to create parallel leadership within the traditional institution.

“Why can’t we Nigerians look at issues dispassionately? How can Kwankwaso be a friend of the APC with what they are doing to us in Kano?” he queried.
FG accused of sowing chaos in Kano
The NNPP chieftain accused the federal government of backing the installation of two emirs in the state, a move he said undermines established authority.
According to him, the state government is constitutionally empowered to appoint and finance traditional rulers, yet the federal authorities have imposed their own emir.
“They appointed two emirs in one town. There is a federal government emir, and there is a state emir. Who has got the responsibility to appoint the emir and pay them their salary?” he asked.

Galadima further alleged that heavy federal security support has been deployed to protect the emir aligned with Abuja’s interest.
He claimed that no fewer than 40 pickup vans loaded with mobile policemen are stationed around the residence of the emir recognized by the federal side.
“It’s a federal government appointee because it’s the Federal High Court that has ruled halfway to suggest so. I’m not making an accusation. I’m making a statement,” he insisted.
The development, according to him, makes it inconceivable for Kwankwaso to consider any political alliance with the APC. He argued that the interference in Kano’s emirship is a direct affront to the state and the NNPP’s supporters.
Presidency rejects claims of northern neglect
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that presidency officials have rejected allegations made by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, that President Bola Tinubu’s government has marginalised Northern Nigeria.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ dialogue on the 2025 constitutional amendment in Kano on Thursday, Kwankwaso expressed concern over what he described as a growing diversion of national resources towards the South.
He warned that this imbalance was fuelling worsening poverty and insecurity in the northern region. Kwankwaso also highlighted the dire state of federal roads in the North. He recalled being compelled to travel from Abuja to Kano by road through Kaduna after a flight cancellation, describing the experience as “hell” due to poor road conditions.
Man arrested in Kano for lewd act
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a 24-year-old man, Shamsu Yakubu, was arrested by Kano Hisbah after a viral video showed him engaging in an obscene act with a she-goat.
The suspect claimed the act was staged to gain social media attention, though he denied actual contact with the animal.
Hisbah officials condemned the act and ordered mental and drug evaluations, warning against eroding Islamic and moral values for online fame.
