The elections, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), saw the APC overturn long-standing strongholds of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), particularly in Chikun and Kajuru.

Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency
Breakdown of result for the Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency, APC candidate Felix Bagudu secured a commanding lead with 34,580 votes. His closest rival from the PDP garnered 11,491 votes, placing a distant second.
A detailed breakdown revealed that APC clinched Kajuru for the first time, polling 10,487 votes against PDP’s 6,789. In Chikun, the APC widened its margin with 24,093 votes, while the PDP managed only 4,702. The outcome marked the first time the APC had won in both local governments since Nigeria’s return to democratic governance in 1999.
The APC also claimed victory in the Zaria Kewaye state constituency bye-election. On Sunday, the returning officer, Professor Balarabe Abdullahi, declared Isa Haruna Ihamo of the APC as the winner with 26,613 votes. Nuhu Sada Abdullahi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) followed with 5,721 votes, while PDP’s Mamuda Abdullahi Wappa came third with 5,331 votes.
Basawa state constituency: APC secures another win
In the Basawa state constituency, APC continued its winning streak. Professor Nasiru Rabiu, the returning officer, announced that the APC candidate had triumphed with 10,926 votes, defeating the PDP contender who received 5,499 votes.
The twin victories in Zaria Kewaye and Basawa have further cemented the APC’s political dominance in Kaduna State, particularly in the Zaria zone. Analysts viewed the contests as a critical test of strength between the ruling party and the opposition, with the results signalling a shift in voter sentiment and party influence.
